Immune Evasion of mouse cytomegalovirus A position for a postdoctoral scientist (part-time, 25 h/week) or for a PhD student is available in a project of the CMV group, Institute of Virology at Hannover Medical School. We are interested in the interaction of the mouse cytomegalovirus with cells of the immune system and aim to identify viral immune evasion proteins and to characterize their mode of action. The final goal is to understand how CMV can persist in a fully immune-competent host. Recent publications are Marquardt et al. J.Gen.Virol. 2011, Busche et al. J.Immunol. 2011, Slavuljica et al. J.Clin.Inv. 2010; Glass et al. Nature Methods 2009. Te project is part of the SFB900 project B1. Applicants are required to hold an MSc or PhD in Life Sciences, ideally in Immunology, Biochemistry, Virology or Biology, or related areas and have a profound background in at least one of these fields. Keen interest in topics of infectiology is expected. Previous experience with the cultivation and characterization of dendritic cells and macrophages (flow cytometry) would be helpful. We are looking for a highly motivated, team-oriented colleague with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.
The position is initially available from Oct. 1st, 2011 to Sept. 2013, with the possibility of extension. Salary and social benefits will be in accordance to the salary scheme for public service employees (TVöD).
