Postdoc reinforcement learning/skill acquisition ,Leoben, Austria

EU-funded project CompLACS (Composing Learning for Artificial Cognitive Systems) we are looking for a highly motivated post doctoral researcher in machine learning/reinforcement learning to develop well founded (mathematical) models for autonomous exploration and skill acquisition.

This position will be filled in January 2013 for two years. Interviews will be conducted starting in October 2012. Highly qualified PhD candidates might be considered as well.

Postdoctoral position infocused on the transcriptional control of the cell cycle and its role in chromosomal instability and in tumorigenesis

A position for a postdoctoral scientist is available in the group of Prof. Stefan Gaubatz at the Biocenter, University of Wuerzburg/ Germany. Research in our group is focused on the transcriptional control of the cell cycle and its role in chromosomal instability and in tumorigenesis.

The goal of the project is to identify mediators of chromosomal instability in tumor cells using a combination of cell culture based experiments and molecular biology techniques. State-of-the-art technologies including Chromatin-immunoprecipitations (ChIP), RNA interference, and cre-lox based models will be used.

The candidate is expected to have considerable expertise in molecular biology and/or biochemistry. Prior experience in molecular tumor biology or mouse genetics will be advantagous.

Active participation in teaching biochemistry to medical students is expected.

The group „Stem Cell Biology and Cellular Engineering“ is offering a position for a Ph.D. student.


The focus of this project is generation and characterization of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) and their interaction with the microenvironment. We will analyze the impact of biomaterials - particularly of nano-structured surfaces - on reprogramming efficiency. Specific epigenetic modifications will subsequently be analyzed.

Methoden:
Methods for iPSC generation and all relevant techniques are established in the lab (including culture expansion, differentiation assays, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy, qRT-PCR, blotting techniques, genetic modifications, microarray platforms, and epigenetic analysis with deep sequencing technology.

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious PhD student with a strong background in cell biology. Experience in stem cell biology would be appreciated. Willingness for teamwork is a prerequisite.
