Is sought for a full-time position in the Department of Prof. Dr. Adam Antebi at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing, Cologne, Germany. The Antebi Department conducts research on how diet and hormones impact animal life span, using the worm Caenorhabditis elegans as a model. We seek a highly motivated and talented scientist to participate in a multi-disciplinary project focused on the systems biology of longevity pathways in C. elegans. The candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree, have a strong background in molecular biology, genetics and preferentially computational biology. They should have exceptional computer and organizational abilities, as well as excellent English writing and speaking skills. The expected start date is March 1, 2011. The Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing was founded in 2008 and is quickly becoming the centre of a unique network of research institutes dedicated to ageing related questions. A number of different model systems, including worms, flies, and mice, are used to address fundamental questions on the nature of ageing and age-related disease. The Institute offers an exciting international environment including employees from 23 different nations, with English as the working language in the laboratories. Compensation is according to the Public Service (TVöD federal) law, and depends on qualifications and experience. An initial contract will be offered for 2 years with a potential renewal for up to 4 years.
