PhD students – Stem cell differentiation and Cellular Reprogramming

At the Department of Internal Medicine 1, Ulm University Hospital
Applications are invited for PhD student positions in the “Stem cell differentiation and Cellular Reprogramming” group, which has been established at the Centre of Internal Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine 1, University Hospital of Ulm. Research projects will be focused on the molecular biology and molecular endocrinology/diabetology underlying the perception and processing of embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells to the pancreatic lineage. Techniques will involve cell culture, molecular genetics, biochemistry, imaging and viral gene transfer. For more information see also recent publications (Circulation. 2010 Nov 2;122(18):1823-36.). We enjoy a close working relationship with many excellent groups at the campus including the Institute of Molecular Medicine and Max-Planck-ResearchDepartment on Stem Cell Aging.

Application requirements:
The PhD position is a scholarship supported by the DFG-funded Research Training Group GrK 1041 and is based on a stipend. Currently positions are limited to a 2 year period. Applicants should by highly motivated and should have recently acquired a Master (PhD candidates) in the life sciences or related disciplines. In addition to being an enthusiastic scientist, we are seeking an individual who will collaborate with an international group of researchers to work on this highly complex and interdisciplinary topic.
