The Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine offers a position for
1 Postgraduate (PhD) (E13/2,TV-L)
for a Modeller, Physicist, Applied Mathematician or the like in an interdisciplinary project on Systems Biology of Aging.
The overall project focuses on the experimental and theoretical analysis of stress induced cellular senescence. The PhD position, however, mainly focuses on the modelling and theoretical aspects. Therefore, applicants with a background in Systems Biology, Biophysics or Mathematical Biology, who are interested to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment, are strongly encouraged to apply. A basic knowledge of ODE systems and statistics is a prerequisite. The position offers the opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree (PhD). The position is for three years initially with the possibility of an extension of 2 years.
The institute coordinates and participates in a variety of coordinated programs funded by the German Research Foundation (GRK1167, SPP1365, FOR521, SFB779, SFB854), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (SysTec) and the European Union (Marie Curie Research Training Networks). Further, the institute is member of the interdisciplinary “Research Center Dynamic Systems: Biosystems Engineering (CDS)”” funded by the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt within the “Excellence Program” and the “Magdeburg Center of Systems Biology MaCS)” funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research within the „FORSYS“ program “Research Units in Systems Biology”.
The Otto von Guericke University wishes to increase the proportion of female academic personnel. Women are therefore explicitly encouraged to apply. Handicapped persons with equivalent qualification will be given preference.
