Psychophysical and psychophysiological characterization of pain processing in humans (Luxembourg)

The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in its Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education

 Doctoral candidate (PhD student)
in the field of psychophysical and psychophysiological pain research (M/F)

•       Ref. F3R-INS- PFN-111005
•       Fixed-term contract 3 years, full-time/40 hrs

In the framework of a collaborative international research project funded by the FNR and the “Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the candidate will be a member of the INSIDE research unit (Integrative Research Unit on Social and Individual Development) within the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg. Within the research domain “Psychosocial Stress and Health”, the recruited staff member will be involved in experimental psychophysical and psychophysiological studies on pain processing. The respective laboratory is headed by Prof. Dr. Fernand Anton.

Activities

•       Writing of a thesis in the domain of biological psychology
•       Contribute to research in the field of pain perception and   processing in humans
•       Participate in  local and collaborative research projects

Profile

•       Have an outstanding master’s degree or a diploma in psychology
•       Be experienced in quantitative research methods;
•       knowledge of psychophysical procedures and  psychophysiological recording methods (BioPac-System) and interest in bio-signal processing;
•       Good communication skills that enable him/her to support the supervision of undergraduate students.
•       Have a sound knowledge of specific software (Office programmes, SPSS, eprime , acknowledge, etc.).

The candidate has to integrate into a multilingual research team. He/she must therefore have excellent command of English and be fluent in at least one of the following two languages: French, German (written and spoken).
