Main topic will be the measurement and analysis of interaction forces between chromatographic beads and cellular layers by atomic force microscopy / spectroscopy. The analysis of the interactions is based on classical but also extended DLVO theories. The project is in collaboration with a biotechnology group on campus interested in optimizing product recovery processes by a better understanding of the involved interaction forces.

We are looking for an excellent candidate with a MSc or equivalent qualification (Diplom) in (experimental) physics, biophysics, or physical chemistry. Previous exposure to AFM or STM and background knowledge in biochemistry is of advantage. Starting date is flexible. English skills are required.
