Postdoc "Environmental Health" in Germany

We are a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres, a leading association Europe-wide, focusing on "Environmental Health".

The aim of our research is to proactively detect health risks for both humans and the environment, decoding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing concepts for prevention and therapy of diseases.

The Institute of Lung Biology and Disease of the Comprehensive Pneumology Center has an immediate opening for a

Bio-/medical physicist, physicist, applied mathematician, bioengineer (Pulmonary Drug Delivery) - Postdoc m/f 2011/1152

Job Description
- Develop methods for quantitative imaging of the bioactive drug dose delivered to the murine lung
- Optimization of aerosol drug delivery systems for cells and mice
- Close interaction with biologists & medical doctors and willingness to work with mice
- Writing of scientific papers and proposals

Your Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Bio-/medical physics, physics, applied mathematics, bioengineering or a related field
- Excellent understanding of the propagation of light in biological tissue and/or optical tomography
- Advanced knowledge of image processing and computational analysis of light-tissue interaction
- Experience with aerosol-based drug delivery and/or aerosol exposure is desirable
- International track-record of peer-reviewed publications
- Proven ability to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Excellent English and communication skills; German skills are desirable, but not required
- Highly motivated, self-dependent, flexible and team oriented
