Project Manager (m/f) for the Initial Training Network EDA-EMERGE,Leipzig,GErmany

The Department of Effect-Directed Analysis invites for a

Project Manager (m/f)
(Code digit: 77/2011)

for the Initial Training Network „Innovative biodiagnosis meets
chemical structure elucidation – Novel tools in effect-directed
analysis to support the identification and monitoring of emerging
toxicants on a European scale (EDA-EMERGE)“

EDA-EMERGE includes 14 partners from science, industry and agencies,
involves different scientific disciplines and 9 different countries.
The anticipated start of the project is October 1, 2011 with a
duration of four years.

The tasks of the project manager will include scientific as well as
administrative project management, in detail:
•       Support of the coordination of scientific activities and
training
•       Organisation of the communication within the project and with
external parties including the European Commission and potential end-
users of EDA-EMERGE results
•       Organisation of a summerschool, courses, conferences and
workshops
•       Establishment of the project webpage
•       Organisation of preparation of reports and accounts in due
time
•       Support of partners in administrative and financial issues
•       Support of scientific work in EDA-EMERGE with data inquiries,
negotiation with data owners in industry and agencies, and
organisation of sampling and investigation campaigns

The candidate should hold a master’s/university degree and a
background in environmental sciences, environmental chemistry,
ecotoxicology or water sciences. A PhD is appreciated. The candidate
should be experienced in and enthusiastic for scientific and
administrative management of large international projects. She/he
should have excellent communication skills and be interested in
interdisciplinary research and enthusiastic for team work and
international networking particularly with young scientists. The
candidate should be experienced in internet communication and the
establishment of webpages. Proficiency in spoken and written English
is essential. Good knowledge in German language is appreciated.

The position is open – conditional upon final contract agreement with
the EC – from 1st of October 2011 initially for two years.

The place of work is Leipzig, Germany. Salary will be according to
the appropriate civil service level TVÖD, according to the personnel
pre-conditions up to Entgeltgruppe 14.
